Field Management

FieldManagement

Efficient exploration and development of the Al Shaheen field requires short, medium and long-term planning.

Today

In the short term, effective field management means maximising the oil production output from existing wells by effectively managing reservoir surveillance activities. We work to identify possible geological risks from drilling and ensure our drilling teams are supported to safely deliver well-placement activities.

We collect data from all our operations and closely monitor, using advanced completion technologies, to maximise the potential of wells and reservoirs.

Looking ahead

Our long-term focus is on maximising the recovery of the vast resources in the Al Shaheen reservoirs. This requires extensive plans to identify, develop, and implement solutions to the challenges seen in the development of the Al Shaheen reservoirs.

We undertake 4D seismic analysis, advanced core and fluids analysis and EOR studies and pilots to ensure we are able to make efficient plans to maximise recovery.
Subsurface studies allow the department to support the construction of in-house geological and reservoir mega-models that run on high-performance computing systems. They are used to support NOC’s field development decision-making processes.

This is made possible by technical excellence of more than 130 geoscientists and reservoir engineers and contractors.
